Snow Day
Family Worship
Fellow Saints in Christ,
As you already know, due to the potential for hazardous travel the session has made the difficult decision to cancel this Lord’s Day public worship gathering. However, the session and I are adamant that we do not want the Lord’s Day to go unnoticed or without guidance and direction for the Church’s regular worship of our Lord. Though we are not gathered together this morning, I hope you will take time to listen to our scriptural devotion this morning as well as take time to gather with your family (whether that’s just your spouse, or your children as well) and spend time together in scripture, prayer, and song.
Husbands and fathers, it is our Christ given duty and obligation to lead our household in discipleship and spiritual growth. I strongly encourage you to lead the family in a time of devotion and worship today. If you have an established family worship routine or habit, then please continue in whatever your household is already doing. If the concept of family worship is new to you then I encourage you to use the following scriptures and prayer.
First, as you begin family worship, consider God’s word as it calls us to worship the Lord and to recognize our need of Him.
With your family, read
Pray that the Lord would bless your time together in worship as you consider his truth and look to his word.
Sing the doxology together. (you are family… no one cares how well you sing…)
Praise God, from whom all blessings flow;
Praise Him, all creatures here below;
Praise Him above, ye heavenly host;
Praise Father, Son, and Holy Ghost.
Amen.
Next you can recite the Apostle’s creed together and even speak or reflect on the realities of what we believe as the people of Christ’s church.
I believe in God, the Father almighty,
creator of heaven and earth.
I believe in Jesus Christ, his only Son, our Lord,
who was conceived by the Holy Spirit
and born of the virgin Mary.
He suffered under Pontius Pilate,
was crucified, died, and was buried;
he descended to hell.
The third day he rose again from the dead.
He ascended to heaven
and is seated at the right hand of God the Father almighty.
From there he will come to judge the living and the dead.
I believe in the Holy Spirit,
the holy catholic* church,
the communion of saints,
the forgiveness of sins,
the resurrection of the body,
and the life everlasting. Amen.
(*that is, the true Christian church of all times and all places)
Spend time in God’s word.
The lesson on Facebook teaches through Isaiah 1:1-20. In this opening chapter Isiaah prepares the rebellious people of God in Judah to receive the Lord’s charges against them of “rebellion.” Such a “sinful nation and a people “laden with iniquity” were indeed guilty of what the Late R.C. Sproul called “cosmic treason” against the Lord. Such guilt and wickedness demand and deserve swift justice and judgment! Isaiah explains this very reality in v. 9 as he tells “why” they will be struck down. Ultimately v. 5 reveals that Israels problem was hard heads and harder hearts! The good news is, that regardless of the people’s wickedness, The LORD sustained a remnant of righteous believers for his glory’s sake, and for the fulfillment of his messianic promise! Verses 18-20 close with the call and plea for the people to reason with God, consider the promise of Redemption and righteousness guaranteed to those who repent from their wickedness and turn to the righteousness of the Lord! Church, we all must reason with the Lord! Are we willing and obedient to die to our sins, share in Christ’s righteousness and enjoy the fruit of righteousness, or like most of stubborn Judah, will we continue chasing after the false gods of this world, offering fake worship to God, and rebelling against his Holiness and justice, only to be “eaten by the mouth of the sword” which is Gods eternal judgement on the wicked?
Revelation 19:11–16
[11] Then I saw heaven opened, and behold, a white horse! The one sitting on it is called Faithful and True, and in righteousness he judges and makes war. [12] His eyes are like a flame of fire, and on his head are many diadems, and he has a name written that no one knows but himself. [13] He is clothed in a robe dipped in blood, and the name by which he is called is The Word of God. [14] And the armies of heaven, arrayed in fine linen, white and pure, were following him on white horses. [15] From his mouth comes a sharp sword with which to strike down the nations, and he will rule them with a rod of iron. He will tread the winepress of the fury of the wrath of God the Almighty. [16] On his robe and on his thigh he has a name written, King of kings and Lord of lords. (ESV)
Close your time together in prayer. It is a great practice to try praying the Lord’s prayer together, of course your prayer does not have to be limited just to those words.
Here is a Video of a sermon/teaching on Isaiah 1:1-20 to go along with the At Home Order of Worship.

I will miss seeing you all in the Lord’s house this coming Lord’s Day morning, but I pray your time in the word, prayer, and perhaps even song will be a time of praise, edification, and devotion. I am looking forward to gathering with you all again next Sunday!
In the Love and Grace of Christ our Lord,
Pastor Boone
